Well… we are are back on the road again and we are having a great time already. We hit the road and said good-bye to AZ yesterday around 10:30am. It was weird locking the door and leaving the house for the last time. After living there for almost 10 years it was a rather weird sensation to leave for good. Even Elias had to be reminded today that we weren’t going back to that home but that we were going to make a new one. I for one hope it will be a very long time before I have to drive the 10 interstate between LA & PHX again… I have done that horrible, boring, desert drive way too many times to count.
Pics will come soon I am sure, but we already connected with family last night when we arrived out here in Cali – John & Sharon held a dinner gathering at their house. We are staying the rest of the week at Huntington Beach (right on the beach = camper, boardwalk, sand then ocean). And YES, this is my idea of vacation & work mixed nicely together. Today, I ‘worked remote’ for several hours while Jen went to lunch with Donna, Joni & the boys. She then took the boys shopping with their ‘travel money’ that Uncle Gordon was so generous to be a supporting agent for. After that the boys went swimming in the Pacific; All 3 boys were very adventurous on their boogie boards. And for the night-cap we went to the Angels game with Donna.
Already we have packed so much into a very short space and there will be plenty more to report from this summer’s adventure! — STAY TUNED —
Schedule = Huntington —> Yosemite —> Seattle | Approx. arrival date between June 6-9.
There are so many of you we would love to say “good-bye” to and yet it will be very challenging to do so during our last few days in Arizona. So, we are having a couple of send off gatherings. If you’re free click on one of the events & add your email to the guest list to tell us that we can see you one last time!
Wednesday, May 20th – 6-8pm – Farewell Picnic @ Gene Autry Park
Friday, May 22nd – 6-9pm – Open House @ Rich & Julie’s
So, I was awakened this morning (at 5:51 AM) by Jackson & Ethan bringing me breakfast in bed. Ryan is out of town, so my gourmet breakfast included a bowl of Total cereal drowning in milk. Regardless, I think Mother’s Day has become favorite holiday. Here’s why…
Ethan made a book for me at school. It’s called A Portrait of My Mother by Ethan. Each page is pre-printed with the beginning of a sentence and he completed each one, then drew a picture about it (similar to the one Jackson gave me last year.) It goes like this…

- Jen posted garage sale earnings in the 3-digit range
- We leave 3 weeks from TODAY!
- Elias can’t seem to stop banging his head on things; seriously considering that he wear a crash helmet ALL the time. He came home from his buddy’s house with a goose egg on his noggin and could not remember how it happened.
- We still have a great couch & 48″ tv for sale if you are interested OR know someone who may be.
- Our trip will take us to Huntington Beach and then to Yosemite before arriving in Seattle on June 6.
Since several of you have asked, 1. “Where will you be living in Seattle?” and also, 2. “Will you be working with the Kuests?” here are the quick answers…
1. We don’t know – we are staying on the south end of town for June then on the North end of town for July – we hope to decide by August where we will rent a house for the school year.
2. No but sort of – We plan on attending church at Pathways for a few weeks this summer & I will preach two weekends. I am confident that Dean and I will find ways to partner in ministry but I am not going on staff at Pathways…. check back for more about ministry plans for 2010.
