‘LOST’ in 1 summer

*SPOILER ALERT* (DON’T READ IF YOU PLAN TO WATCH lost BUT HAVEN’T YET)

well… we are finally done. what began as something to watch when we couldn’t get tv or cable on our trip turned into a nightly addiction that several times peaked at 1am finishing our 4th episode of that night. right now i am not sure if i am done watching LOST all together or anxiously awaiting season 5. however, here are a few things that i do know:

  • i wish the red headed scientist chick had gotten knocked out at least once
  • i need to find a website that has obscure facts like who got knocked out the most
  • i am glad that season 4 ended with John Locke dead; i haven’t wanted any character in any show to die more than him other than both of the gilmore girls
  • the great thing about the series is that you can always kill someone cause 1. you can use another survivor that is just hanging around OR 2. you can bring the person back to life with an undiscovered station or a mystical healing rock…
  • hurley has the best lines in the whole show.
  • all of our lives need more dramatic music to accompany it
  • if you go back to med. school you can also be mcgyver, a camando, a leader, a hard core survivalist, play golf like tiger but use rocks, get all the babes to like you even though it will amount to squat (actually that is ‘jack squat’) & be island president
  • all the bright colors go out of your clothes within a day of being stranded
  • you can learn english in 100 days but not korean (did any one else notice that none of the english speakers ever want to learn jin’s language?)
  • i really like history but i don’t need one more flash back so i am glad my personal memory sucks.
  • have you ever seen such a big looking 3 month old that doesn’t cry when it crashes in a helicopter?

‘F’-ing Elias-isms

Elias was rewarded for his bravery today with a kid’s meal from McDonald’s.  His answer to my inquiry as to whether he wanted french fries or apple dippers;

Mom, when I say the ‘F’ word, that means I want fries.

remember these chairs??

It’s not necessarily a question one gets asked everyday, but Ryan sent me this picture with that text message today from the Atlanta airport. Just thought it was interesting in light of yesterday’s post.

nostalgia

Ryan found the following email I sent out to our families after our cruise to the Bahamas in April of 2005. We were given this aweome gift for our 10th wedding anniversary from the awesome youth staff @ Central. He thought it would be fun to post it here along with some photos for nostalgia’s sake…

We had a GREAT time!  It was a rough start as we missed our flight out of Phoenix Sunday morning.  And since everything else was booked to Atlanta until 9:00am the next day we ended up taking a detour through Salt Lake City, spending the night in the Atlanta airport then flying into Miami the next morning.  Ryan says there’s always a down point of any vacation and that was definitely it.  At least we got it over with quickly.

We boarded the ship at 11:30am on Monday and left Miami at 5:00pm.  We docked at the port at Nassau, Bahamas at 8:00am Tuesday.  We shopped, went on a sailing/snorkeling tour, and explored around the Atlantis Resort.

We departed Nassau at 12:00am and docked at Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas, CocoCay on Wednesday morning.  We spent the day relaxing on the beach and Ryan snorkeled some more.

We left CocoCay that evening and sailed to Key West Thursday where we took Lloyd’s Bike Tour around town.  Lloyd is a quirky older guy who just loves Key West and his job and was very knowledgeable about all the flowers and fruits that grow there.  It made for a very enjoyable time.  He also recommended that we get seafood at Bo’s Fish Wagon, which was an even more quirky place.  Now, I’m not a huge seafood fan, as much as Scott tried to make one out of me growing up.  But, this was THE BEST fried shrimp I have ever eaten.  Afterward, we just walked around the town and shopped.

We returned to Miami Friday and docked at 8:00am.  We had extra time to spare since our flight didn’t leave until 4:00pm so we shopped some more and had lunch at Miami’s Bayside Marketplace.  We also got in one more boat tour of Celebrity Island in Miami.  We saw the very luxurious homes of several celebrities; Rosie O’Donnell, Gloria Estefan, Shawn Puffy Combs, Elizabeth Taylor, and Shaquille O’Neal.  There were a ton more, but I don’t really remember who lived where.  The highlight of the tour was seeing Shaq in front of his house.

It was a very relaxing time and Ryan and I just enjoyed being together with no real distractions (something we don’t get very often).
